There’s more to it

Year two involves continuing with academic qualifications and continuing to build technical skills, spending time at our academy centre and learning on the job with the support of your manager, completing a work-log of practical on-site activities. Depending on the apprenticeship you take, you will gain a City & Guilds Diploma, a BTEC or HND level qualification.

Our Advanced Apprenticeship schemes extend over a third or even fourth year depending on the first post role and business area you are recruited into. In the final years you will spend approximately 75% to 90% of  your time in the workplace developing the required knowledge, skills and experience to build your confidence and competence. This will prepare you for your apprenticeship end point assessment and your career with National Grid.
