We need to enable new customer focussed connections and coordinate third party works on our sites at a much larger scale – efficiently and collaboratively in this digital age.
Joining us as the Head of Customer Connections Site Solutions the team support and grant rights to connection customers requiring access across non operational land, manage coordination of connecting customers, and protect the land under our existing assets from third party schemes.
You will work build the team and guidance to co-ordinate and monitor multiple third- party contractor activity on new substation builds and expansions across the country safely.

- Knowledge of land and land rights, and site management including CDM regs.
- Experience of leading high performing teams with a range of experience and training/development needs
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to ensure effective engagement with all relevant
- stakeholders (internally and externally).
- Experience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (engineering, legal, consenting) to
- support overall project delivery.
- Technical understanding, knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory parameters that National
- Grid work within.
- The ability to work under pressure to tight timescales with the ability to prioritise accordingly.
- Solid organisational ability and strong influencing skills
- Problem solver and solution provider
- Ability to work with contractors with demonstrable experience of managing an outsourced supply chain
- Experience of driving continuous improvement in a complex and fast changing environment
- It is not essential, however would be great if you hold MRICS or MRTPI qualifications

What you'll do
- Provide end to end land support to connection customers in relation to land requirements and activities on National Grid’s land.
- Motivate and develop the team in order to maximise the contributions of practitioners and specialists.
- Ensure that the team receives the appropriate training & support to ensure they can effectively & collaboratively work with the supply chain - building the necessary relationships, packaging & allocating work efficiently, managing risks in the delivery of the outsourced service, and managing performance & continuous improvement.
- Maintain customer relationship, leading on planning and forecasting workload and resourcing strategy and effectively allocate work within the team.
- Develop the awareness of the Great Grid Upgrade externally through speaking at conferences, and entering awards where appropriate.
- Support NG safety culture, show visible SHE leadership
- Drive a strategy for monitoring activities of third-party works on NGET non-operational land (typically installation of underground cables), including monitoring the volume of activity on site, performance of third- party contractors, interactions between third party contractors and NGET work to resolve of any issues.
- Manage a portfolio of NGET sites where there are multiple third-party contractors working on NGET sites to mitigate interface risks, ensure compliance and ensure consistency across a national portfolio of sites. This will include understanding programmes and interactions from wider NGET/DNO work to ensure a holistic site delivery.
- Liaison with ET Customer Connections, ET Asset Operations and Operational SHE, engineering, consents, external affairs and lands leads to ensure compliance and consistency with wider business around all SHE related matters. · Liaison with external parties such as third-party connection customers, DNOs, local planning authorities etc as relevant for the site/project works. · Facilitate and foster a seamless generative safety culture within the Lands team.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £75,000 - £90,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
