We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Test Engineer – Quality Engineering to join our innovative and forward-thinking IT department based in Solihull.  


The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and executing testing solutions for IT projects. As an experienced Lead Engineer, you will be part of multi -disciplinary team and incorporate customer-centric design thinking practices and standard Waterfall & Agile/Lean software development methodologies. This role will report to the Director of Solutions Development within the National Grid IT organization.

In this role You will be asked to:


  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Ensure the creation of detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Oversee and manage:  testing activities, automation scripts, tools, documentation and tracking of bugs
  • Ensure the performance of thorough regression testing; monitor debugging process results
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing systems to meet IT project delivery needs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers, solution architects and project managers) to identify system requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
  • Sets quality assurance technology strategy and direction; partners with business stakeholders and influences overall strategy and use of testing capabilities
  • Provides leadership to quality assurance teams, and proactively engages with teams to promote process and organizational improvements that enhance overall effectiveness, especially drive Agile & SAFe methodologies.
  • Able to collaborate with Core engineering /Product / Program management/Vendor teams across.
About you

  • Qualifications could come from a variety of sources, e.g. a degree in computing, science or mathematics, ISEB, British Computing Society or certification from commercial organizations such as Microsoft, Oracle etc.
  • ERP Implementations experience using SAP ECC/S4 HANA or Oracle or an equivalent ERP with experience in Upgrades, Application Development, Integration Testing, Post-Implementation Support and Training.
  • Experience in leading the end to end program deliverables and managing complex Legacy system integration's.
  • Experience in Application Implementation Methodology (AIM), Application Object Library (AOL) implementation standards, Trading Community Architecture (TCA) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Working with custom interfaces and API’s for importing customers, Orders and Items from legacy systems into the ERP systems like SAP / Oracle Applications.
  • Experience in FI, OM, Inventory, Advanced Pricing, TCA, PO, BOM, WIP, PIM, AR, AP, Collection, iProcurement,  Ipayments, CashApps etc..
