About The Role
Brand New Roles – Permanent – Hybrid UK Working
This is the time for action – we need to move at pace and reform our energy system – to deliver energy security, to tackle climate change and to protect our people.
The Strategic Infrastructure Programme Management Office (PMO) has a significant role to play in supporting delivery of major projects to support this change, not least the Performance & Reporting team through the timely provision of information, data, intelligence and insight.
As a Power Platform developer at National Grid, your primary role will be to deliver business intelligence services, lead BI software development, and present Power BI reports. You will transform raw data into cohesive, valuable reports capturing meaningful business insights.
Joining the function you will join a team growing to 6 people in 2025.
This role is hybrid based typically utilising our Warwick or Birmingham office, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.
Leveraging this hybrid working, this team typically gather twice per month in an office, which is dependent on personal and business needs.
We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
About You
What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for people who have:
- Experience specialising in the design, creation and maintenance of Power BI datasets, data models and dashboards
- Strong proficiency in SQL, DAX, R, Power Fx and Python programming languages
- Strong proficiency in Power Platform (Power Query, Power Automate and PowerApps)
- Knowledge of data warehousing technologies and tools, such as ETL (extract, transform, load) tools, SQL databases and data modelling techniques.
- Knowledge of programme controls functions (including schedule, cost, risk, reporting and change control) and integration of programme controls data from multiple delivery partners and workstreams.
- Good understanding of Data Visualisation principles and best practices
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills. You understand what customers and business leaders want

What You'll Do
You will be:
• Designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards to meet the business stakeholders’ needs
• Gathering and understanding business requirements for data visualisation and analysis
• Creating complex DAX calculations and measures to support data analysis
• Using Power Platform tools to create power apps, transform data using power query and automate processes using power automate
• Ensuring data security and compliance with best practices
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in Power BI reports
• Providing training and support to end users on using Power BI
• Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data presented in the dashboards.
• Staying updated with the latest Power Platform features, updates, and best practices
• Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to drive improvements in data quality, ensuring information is accurate, precise, complete, consistent, transparent, and provided in a timely manner.
What You'll Get
A competitive starting salary between £52,000 – £62,000 dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
