About the Role:

 

As Design Engineer, you will be working on Western Gas Network Project, which includes installing 11km of new high pressure gas pipeline and pressure uprating of existing pipelines, installations and a compressor station. The project increases the amount of gas we can transport through the network, facilitating more system entry capacity at Liquified Natural Gas Terminals in South Wales, improving security of supply in the UK and Europe.

 

We're ideally looking for someone based in the Midlands who can cover as far West as Swansea, through Gloucestershire and Worcestershire and as far East as Warwickshire. Your work is not always site based but you may be required to travel to site for surveys, meetings, and design compliance audits.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Attending and chairing design meetings with our contractors, ensuring the designs are on track.
  • Responding to Technical Queries, Deviation requests and Requests for Information.
  • Reviewing design packs, ensuring compliance with specifications and procedures.
  • Attending and contributing towards the Formal Process Safety Assessments (FPSA’s), ensuring the designs are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Ensuring equipment is suitable to be installed on the National Transmission System.
  • Constructability, CDM and temporary works assessment.
  • Raising modification work packs in our Maximo management of change system.
  • Reviewing registrar reports for specification updates and communicating implications to Project Managers.
  • Working collaboratively with a direct team of Project Managers, Project Supervisors and Project Operational Representatives and indirectly with Planners, Quantity Surveyors, SHE Advisors, Subject Matter Experts in engineering disciplines and many others.

About You:

 

 

You will need HNC/HND or equivalent experience in a pipeline, civil/mechanical  engineering/construction discipline, and be professionally registered. You will have good understanding of CDM Regulations and Safety & Environmental legislation, practices, and policies. You must have a full UK driving licence. You must be able to communicate technical details clearly and manage interdependent and multi-disciplinary design works. You will be analytical and detail oriented.

 

Previous National Transmission System or gas network design experience is desirable , as is formal training in any of the following areas: design approval and appraisal, BIM, H&S, CDM, EUSR, Environmental, IT skills.
