Environmental Specialist- UK Wide - £49,310 - £62,399 + Company Car

As the Environmental Specialist you will deliver cost effective, efficient, customer focused solutions to drive performance and continuous improvement on construction projects for Operations and National Gas Services whilst helping to embed a robust environmental sustainability culture that is consistent with National Gas objectives. 

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to get involved in the energy revolution and directly contribute to UK meeting its Net Zero targets as we continue to explore the use of Hydrogen in our NTS. 

 

You will drive a team culture of environmental and sustainability awareness and compliance in all work activities in line with National Gas Policies and Procedures. You will provide support and advice to operational sites and projects – identifying risks and opportunities, liaising with stakeholders, identifying any potential significant environmental impacts and risks including environmental/ecological survey and consent requirements. You will develop, manage, and upskill the team around you.

 

You will undertake environmental site surveys as required throughout the project lifecycle, manage ecological surveys where required and liaise with consents team to ensure the acquisition of consents/permissions in a timely manner or secure consents/permissions directly on behalf of the project team. 

 

You will provide support incident investigations where required and strive to fulfil the requirements of personal objectives and targets to enhance the performance of the SHE team. 

 

You will provide practical solutions for the elimination or mitigation of environmental impacts and risks and opportunities to enhance sustainability and produce / review environmental sustainability project documentation such as Project Environmental Management Plans, Carbon Calculators, Biodiversity Net Gain, Sustainability Action Plans, Toolbox talks etc and associated reporting. 

 

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate technical knowledge and have site-based experience of project planning / delivery in a Construction, Gas, Utilities or similar industry. 

 

You will have an understanding of Environmental Management Systems including ISO14001 and audit processes and have a detailed understanding of appropriate legislative requirements, company policies and procedures 

  

You will have excellent customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to support / communicate and effectively develop working relationships with staff at all levels with experience of supporting multiple projects simultaneously. 


You will be covering different sites throughout the UK, so willingness to travel to various locations including some overnight stays is expected.
