Project Coordinator (FutureGrid) – Cumbria (Hybrid) – c. £39,000 - £49,000

About the role

At National Gas, our journey to net zero focuses primarily on the ways that hydrogen could be used to replace natural gas, and is one of the most important economic, technical, and social challenges faced by the business.

Our FutureGrid project is the first of many steps towards a full-scale conversion of the existing National Transmission System (NTS) to transport hydrogen. The project involves constructing a test facility from decommissioned assets that will be used to carry out a wide range of hydrogen tests in an offline environment, to demonstrate its effect on our assets, as well as the operation of our network.

As a FutureGrid Project Coordinator, you will deliver programme and project support to both the Compression and Deblending projects. You will lead on project management and finance activities to support the FutureGrid leadership team and ensure coordination between all partners working on the programme.

You can expect to get involved with the delivery of fit-for-purpose governance, accurate and timely reporting, monitoring and first line assurance of the Hydrogen portfolio. You will coordinate key stakeholder engagement activity onsite at DNV Spadeadam, supporting internal and external teams, policymakers, and senior government officials in visiting the facility. You will coordinate with stakeholders such as UKRI, Ofgem, and DESNZ to ensure compliance with governance conditions of project funding.

You will support with the contract management of FutureGrid, including scope management, invoicing, and activity tracking, as well routine administrative tasks to support the wider team.

The successful candidate will need to be onsite at least 1-2 days per week at our FutureGrid facility at DNV Spadeadam. There will also be an expectation to visit the HQ office in Warwick occasionally.

  • Annual performance bonus of up to 6% of your salary.
  • Hybrid and flexible working.
  • 26 days holiday plus 8 statutory days - option available to buy extra holiday days.

  • Access to employee support, care and assistance helplines.
  • Access to Employer Matched charity giving.
