The Opportunity:

 

Working as part of a talented and nurturing Environment and Sustainability team of 5, you’ll be instrumental in driving our environmental sustainability strategy and initiatives throughout the business.  This team manages our environmental action plan, such as monitoring our carbon footprint, the circular economy, biodiversity and carbon reduction.

 

 

  • Sustainability training and providing specialist advice on environmental topics.

 

  • Reviewing, monitoring, analysing and manipulating environmental sustainability data, from MS Excel and other data sources.

 

  • Internal communications raising awareness, collaboration and endorsement of sustainability.

 

  • Providing support to specific projects to demonstrate the business value in sustainability.

  • Helping to drive environmental sustainability initiatives into business units, delivering real benefits to National Gas, the environment and local communities.

 

  • Supporting the design, development and implementation of sustainability metrics, plans, goals and tools.

 

  • Developing and maintaining tools and techniques that support the environmental sustainability agenda, such as quantification of economic and environmental risks and opportunities.

 

  • Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to communicate the environmental and business benefits of adopting a sustainable approach.

Who we're looking for:

 

You have solid knowledge of environmental legislation, and a broad appreciation of business sustainability objectives.  If you have a professional membership of a relevant body, such as IEMA/ CIEEM/ CIWEM, or a degree in a relevant discipline, this would be highly regarded.   You have strong MS Excel skills (pivot tables, v-look ups) and are confident working with large spreadsheets, as well as working with a lot of other data from multiple internal and external sources to interrogate and calculate trends, peaks and troughs; and calculating conversions e.g. miles to CO2 emissions. You enjoy networking and are passionate about sustainability, raising awareness and driving projects forward.   Your communication skills are excellent, with impeccable writing ability for internal communications to inform the wider business of the team’s work and updates, and in person, to encourage stakeholder's engagement and input.

  • Salary between £40,000 - £45,000 (dependant on experience)
