Land Liaison Officer – Occasional travel to Warwick - £44,000 - £55,000

About the role

National Gas has an exciting and important role in net zero and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today. We are looking for a Land Liaison Officer to come and join us as we work towards a cleaner energy future.

You will be responsible for protecting National Gas; existing and future land interests from proposed Statutory Orders. You will review and advise on the impact of third-party proposals on existing assets, land and other interests. You will respond to consultations, primarily consisting of Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) and Transport and Work Act Orders (TWAOs).

You will challenge, advise and influence the design of the diversionary or connection works to mitigate planning or land constraints in relation to Statutory Orders. You will also liaise with the Gas Integrity team who will provide key technical support when reviewing Statutory Order schemes or when initially engaging with promoters to discuss proposed works.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills, among a wide range of external stakeholders, from members of the public, landowners, solicitors, commercial establishments, contractors, developers; often managing conflicting objectives.  You will have knowledge of consenting regimes and processes such as the Planning Act (2008), including Development Consent Order, Compulsory Purchase Order and Town and Country Planning. 

The successful candidate must hold a valid UK driving license and be able to work from the Warwick HQ office on a fortnightly basis.
