Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

At NESO we pride ourselves on our culture of belonging. With us, everyone can bring their true selves to work. We wholly embrace diversity and are truly inclusive.

We are continually looking at how we can strengthen our belonging culture. It is vital that everyone feels respected and confident to share their ideas and solutions. Together, we are curious to learn about different backgrounds and perspectives, to enable and accelerate progress of the energy transition.

Our organisation-wide objectives:

  • Increase diversity at all levels of the organisation; encouraging and attracting great people from a full range of backgrounds and ensuring that everyone can reach their full potential.
  • Offer an employee experience that enables a sense of belonging and psychological safety at every stage of your career with us.
  • Ensure that everyone understands their responsibility to help others to belong and fully contribute, and engage in belonging activities.
  • Seek to be a leading voice in the whole energy system, in particular as we start to engage more with the diversity of energy consumers and how this should inform our broader role as the NESO.

A quote from CEO Fintan Slye

"Harnessing the power of our different experiences, perspectives and styles is critical to everything we need to achieve over the coming years. We need to enable people to bring those alternative ideas and solutions to the table without fear of being drowned out by an identikit majority, or being received with scepticism. That’s why it’s important that people feel they can belong – because we don’t just need to attract and retain great people; we need them to be here with a willingness to share and consider the best ideas, regardless of where they come from."

Employee Resource Groups & Interest Networks

At NESO, we have a diverse range of Employee Resource Groups and Interest Networks.

Our ERGs and IGs are run independently and voluntarily by our dedicated colleagues and are designed to provide support and representation for protected characteristics.
