About the Role
As a Finance Business Partner to (National Grid Ventures) NGV’s U.S. Northeast business specialising in investment appraisal, you will sit at the hub of our exciting growth opportunities in NGV in the US. It is an excellent opportunity to contribute your financial modelling skills and business case development and diligence to the clean energy transition. This position will be part of National Grid Ventures (“NGV”), the competitive division of National Grid plc which operates outside of National Grid’s core regulated businesses in the UK and US and develops, operates and invests in energy projects, technologies and partnerships.
In particular, you will provide financial modelling and associated services to NGV’s business development teams and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team as they explore investment opportunities like competitive transmission. offshore wind, battery energy storage systems and analyze the performance of NGV’s existing portfolio of assets.
What You'll Do
• Build and/or maintain financial models with input from BD teams to support business case propositions
• Work with business development teams to collate and validate input data to support financial models and business cases
• Become a trusted advisor to BD teams building positive working relationships across the organisation
• Update financial models with actuals and reforecasts to perform post-investment appraisal reviews
• Communicate complex financial concepts in a simplified manner to enable quick and informed decision-making
• Build relationships with subject matter experts in Business Development, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Market Fundamentals, etc. to enable integration of relevant expertise into financial models
• Peer review financial models to ensure 1st line assurance of integrity of reported financials
• Support FP&A with Enterprise Value calculations and inputs into National Grid’s financial planning processes (long-term Strategic Business Plan and near-term Quarterly Rolling Forecasts)
• Ensure adherence to NG’s standard investment opportunity evaluation methodology
• The person in this role will play a part in developing and implementing financial modelling best practice.
- Build valuable relationships with internal partners to develop a deep understanding of their expectations, requirements and business processes to better support the delivery of business objectives.
- Represent the Finance function and areas of business responsibility, and work closely with key stakeholders and business partners in other functions to Contribute to key strategic and operational decisions.
- Routinely and proactively request, use and present financial and non-financial performance analysis and insights, challenging senior leaders to help them Build a comprehensive understanding of business performance and a clear view of progress against improvement initiatives, incentives and regulatory targets.
- Ensure the quality, timeliness and relevance of outputs delivered by the Finance function to the business in order to add value and Contribute to key business decisions and plans.
- Drive and support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, role-modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
- Recruit, develop and manage a highly motivated, capable and adequately resourced team, developing talent and a performance management culture that drives value through employee engagement.
- Deputise for the Lead Finance Business Partner, in key meetings to influence business decision making and provide support from a financial standpoint.

Annual Salary
Walthm and surrounding area: $127,000-$149,000
Brooklyn and surrounding area: $136,000-$160,000
Salary commensurate with experience.
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
