The Principal Architect for Devices will play a crucial role to help fulfil this mandate. We're on the lookout for a skilled Principal Architect with a focus on PC and Mobility to join our innovative team. As a Principal Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions that enhance user experiences on PCs and mobile devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure architectures that meet business requirements.

 

National Grid is hiring a Principal Architect for our Digital Platforms & Infrastructure Technology department. This role offers remote working with occasional visits to our Warwick office. 
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Design and architect solutions for PC and mobile platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of end-to-end solutions, from concept to deployment, ensuring quality and performance standards are met.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices and coding standards are followed.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in PC and mobile development.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and user guides.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely support and expertise to internal teams and clients.

About You

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Principal/Solution Architect, with a strong focus on PC and mobile solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of PC and mobile operating systems, frameworks, and development tools.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Experience with Networks, Cellular and Wi-Fi
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are advantageous.
  • Strong Knowledge of Windows 10, 11 and O365
  • Knowledge of Intune Capabilities to manage devices and integration with Configuration Manager
  • Experience architecting and deploying solutions for PCs and Mobile devices
  • Experience on automation tasks

More Information

A competitive salary between £65,000 – £79,000 – dependent on capability


As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
