National Grid is hiring a Sr. Energy Consultant, Agribusiness & Emerging Markets in Albany, NY

Job Purpose
As a Senior Energy Consultant, Agribusiness & Emerging Markets, you will be responsible for working with our agricultural customers, as well as commercial/industrial customers to engage them in our energy savings programs. You will be the catalyst in driving energy efficiency projects and delivering savings to National Grid’s gas and electric savings goals. This role will also be responsible for the introduction and sale of other programs such as Clean Heat NY, EV Charging, Demand Response, Weatherization, and any other programs/products National Grid brings to the marketplace.
As part of our Strategic Consulting team, you will be responsible for researching accounts, developing account plans, conducting all EE sales activities and deliver on assigned sales targets. This includes maintaining strong sales funnel and achieving high appointment and close rates. In addition, you will act as the first point of contact representing National Grid to customers, providing information about our available services. You will be at the forefront of communicating market developments in the agribusiness energy industry in order to ensure the optimization of best practices for our agricultural customers and for National Grid.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and execute sales plans, in line with National Grid’s overall objectives, to increase opportunities with new and existing customers.
- Follow up on leads and develop effective relationships with current and prospective customers in order to explain and promote National Grid services for the purpose of creating sales, generating EE savings.
- Manage the day-to-day relationships with customers, other industry contacts, and fellow National Grid representatives to understand and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with our policies and processes.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with other business units to identify savings opportunities, share best practices and understand and challenge business decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred and 5+ years of progressive sales/outreach management experience including planning, project implementation, budget and data management, and client/account management, preferably in the agribusiness space.
- Ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights with strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking mindset.
- Strong collaboration, consultation and negotiation skills, with use of visual aids for clear and actionable reports or dashboards for stakeholders (Proficiency with Excel, advanced functions, pivot tables, macros) and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau).
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.

Salary
$85,000 - $100,000 a year
Salary commensurate with location and experience
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
