National Grid is hiring Supervisors for our Gas Field Operations team, with several positions based in Waltham, MA; Commercial Point, MA;  Rivermoor, MA; Braintree, MA, and Cape Cod.

Job Purpose

Our Gas Supervisors at National Grid play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our gas operations. These positions are responsible for the safety and security of our various gas distribution systems and to ensure National Grid complies with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.

Customer Meter Services Supervisor

  • Implement policies and procedures and ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of natural gas customers’ premises as well as the Company’s distribution system, while fulfilling statutory requirements and meeting or exceeding performance incentives.
  • Monitor and enforce work rules, standards and procedures for emergency response, leak investigation, and other scheduled work, while remaining fully compliant, safe, and within budgetary limitations.
  • Respond to natural gas emergencies and coordinate with other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators and the Police and Fire Departments.
  • Support achievement of goals, including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response and safety.
  • Ensure safe working conditions are maintained through field inspections of work sites and equipment.

Construction & Maintenance Supervisor

  • Support the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission system and other non-load related project work.
  • Authorize permission documents and undertake the role of Site Controller.
  • Identify the requirement to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment, including the preparation of business cases, initiation of design and provision of technical support.
  • Act as onsite incident supervisor during planned and emergency situations.
  • Manage allocated resources to produce cost-effective, customer focused and efficient service within budget and delegation of authority, assisting with the indirect control of various projects in order that timescales and budgeted costs are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred along with related operations work experience to include the supervision of others, SME or Project Lead experience.
  • 3-8 years of construction experience highly preferred (C&M Supervisor), otherwise, 2 + years of experience in a supervisory role required with experience managing union employees being highly preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience with a focus on Construction, Field Operations, or Customer Field Services preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction and/or maintenance practices preferred.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Comfortable using MS Office (e.g., Office, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

 

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License Required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
  • Participate in on-call or after hour supervisory duties

More Information

Salary: $101,000 - $130,000

 

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to Federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation (“DOT”) covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
