Job Purpose

The Supervisor will lead and direct employees in meter operations to ensure operations follow regulatory standards and safety policies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor the performance of assigned staff, addressing issues such as absenteeism, discipline, and work standards to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Ensure the safety of both the public and organizational personnel by adhering to National Grid’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external agencies, providing support and ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, use, repair, and maintenance of gas meters and associated electronic instruments and devices.
  • Supervise the inspection, acceptance, and standardization testing of gas meters and related electronic equipment.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of high- and low-pressure gas systems and natural gas properties.
  • Plan, direct, and prioritize the objectives and activities of in-house resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and in compliance with relevant policies and processes.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the gas operations, customer metering services, and engineering departments to support and coordinate work dependencies.
  • Manage business, vendor, and consultant contracts to ensure all parties are informed of any changes to contracts, schedules, and decisions.

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of related work experience in gas operations.
  • Strong technical proficiency in gas testing and measurement.
  • Proficiency in using computers and data analysis, and familiarity with various Microsoft applications.
  • Experience in leading a team involved in transactional operations services.
  • Solid understanding of tools and testing equipment utilized for gas meter testing.
  • Working knowledge of operations within Meter Operations.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Salary

$137,000 - $164,000 a year
