About the Role

National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst of Finance Services in Brooklyn, NY.

 

The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the Work Order Lifecycle Plant Accounting Team in ensuring the proper accounting, analysis, reconciliation, and accuracy of financial data across the Record to Report business activities and Fixed Assets Processes. This includes but not limited to analysis of capital projects, capitalizing all fixed assets, maintaining an accurate fixed assets system, and the associated accounting and financial reporting requirements. Specifically, this role is responsible for managing accurate recording and reconciliation in PowerPlan and SAP of all construction work in progress (CWIP) and retirement work in progress (RWIP) for the individual Operating Companies. Accountable for effectively facilitating the asset life cycle process from installation to retirement.  

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the execution of the construction/retirement work order lifecycle to properly account for the assets of National Grid and meet the requirements and expectations of regulators and key stakeholders
  • Reviews and analyze plant accounts and transactions to identify and address discrepancies and produce accurate and credible data.
  • Understands the overall transaction flow of the work order process and rules of eligibility for any company or work order type
  • Exercise independent judgement in managing and resolving issues while remaining accountable for all actions to next-level management
  • Supports month-end accounting close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete recording of financial transactions in PowerPlan and SAP.
  • Prepares, records, and processes plant transactions and adjustments as needed.
  • Executes and supports financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.
  • Assembles and reviews supporting documentation to ensure compliance with audits.
  • Assist with supporting financial filings and reporting deadlines.
  • Prepares account reconciliations to support PowerPlan subledger to SAP ledger balances.
  •  Continuously search for enhancements to improve current processes to create efficiencies and reduce manual effort.

What You'll Need

· Fixed asset accounting

· General accounting

· QA review

· Utility industry accounting preferred

· Process centric operations

· FERC policy and procedures preferred

· US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and IFRS

· Process Management

· Month-end close processes

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is required with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with increasing responsibility

· Master’s Degree/CPA (Desirable)

· Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications

· Knowledge and/or experience using SAP, BI and PowerPlan (Desirable)

· Able to assess accounting issues and recommend solutions

· Strong analytical interpersonal skills

· Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees

· Highly organized and detail-oriented

· Good problem-solving and time management skills

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

· Proven track record to implement process improvements

Annual Salary

$102,000-$120,000
