Job Purpose
The Senior Engineer will provide technical expertise and support from an engineering and field execution perspective, ensuring construction activities are performed in accordance with National Grid policy, procedures and standards. The Senior Engineer will also be required to understand the process around sewer water, catch basins and other installations associated with NYC/LI municipalities.
This will encompass a range of duties including field construction, maintenance, repair, safety implementation and monitoring and participation in determining field constructability of small- and large-scale projects.
Key Accountabilities
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Provide gas engineering and design for distribution pipelines, bridge/highway/waterway crossings, associated with City/State construction, based on scopes aligned with system and customer requirements.
- Review of municipality’s planned work to determine and recommend alternatives to minimize relocating gas mains.
- Execute field requests including gas main encroachments, cast iron main waver program, gate box programs, analysis and budget monitoring of unplanned field generated construct and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant internal and external policies and processes
- Thorough understanding and application of NYC CET, EP-7 and Joint-Bid items and negotiations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the application of NYC Administrative Code as applied to DEP/DDC work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering in an approved engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering school required
- 5+ years of engineering field experience required
- PE preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be able to work overtime and off-hours as necessary
- Must be able to travel overnight to other work areas, as necessary

Downstate NY Salary: $129,000 - $152,000 a year
