National Grid is hiring a Senior Software Engineer position. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of Syracuse or Brooklyn, NY.

We are in search of a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with profound experience in systems operations, automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC). In this role, you will drive the design, development, and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, supporting the seamless delivery of technology solutions that modernize and digitize the grid.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the development and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to automate and streamline our operations across multiple platforms.
- Spearhead the integration of software design, operating architecture, and systems infrastructure.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, advocating for best practices in DevOps methodologies.
- Implement robust, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions that support global product requirements.
- Work alongside development teams to ensure operational criteria are met prior to product releases.
- Work with vendors to enhance existing tools and solutions to improve applicability to scalable solutions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps role within a technology-driven environment.
- Expertise in managing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong understanding of cloud services (preferably Microsoft Azure) including Azure DevOps, Azure Service Bus, etc.
- Experience with container orchestration services such as Kubernetes.
- Experience in managing on premises and cloud infrastructures.
- Experience with API development
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Strong background in system architecture, including load balancing, databases, and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and practices.
- Experience with network, server, and application-status monitoring.
- Experience with Azure Arc is beneficial
- Experience with hardened cloud software deployment is beneficial
- Solid understanding of security best practices.
- Prior experience with IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and OT (Operational Technology) is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical concepts is beneficial.

Salary
Syracuse: $111k - $131k a year
Brooklyn: $134k - $158k a year
