What You'll Do

Our Operations Support - Right of Way team plays a vital role in securing and managing National Grid’s land rights, including easements, property acquisitions, and occupancy permits. This team works to directly support the expansion, protection, and maintenance of our gas infrastructure throughout our New York State and New York City portfolio. Lastly, this team is also responsible for overseeing the management of existing property rights to ensure National Grid can continue to operate efficiently not only now but for future years to come.  
  
As an Intern in this role, you'll have the opportunity to analyze easement documents to create property layers within Geographic Information System (GIS) tools along with accurately mapping the location of existing easements. In addition, you will assist in reviewing and verifying public records to identify and confirm company easements and property rights. Lastly, as you organize and evaluate electronic data files, including legacy easements, you will also gain a deeper understanding of National Grid’s property rights operations while contributing to critical infrastructure projects.   

 

You will be in Hicksville, NY working in a Hybrid structure for the summer. You must be located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer.  

What You'll Need

  • Availability to start on program start date, May 27, 2025, and work full-time (40 hours a week) throughout your duration of the summer 
  • Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2025 Semester  
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Operations Support, Business Administration or related majors  
  • Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age  
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (including CPT & OPT)  

 

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 
  • Strong attention to detail, along with effective verbal and written communication skills, and excellent organizational abilities.

Salary Range  

$22.00 - $27.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student) 

 

Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements. 

 

Must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. As a Gridtern, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
