Relay Technician

Job Purpose
Experience the personal challenge of working for a world class organization and leader in the Utilities and Energy industry as a Relay Technician at various locations throughout our Long Island service territory.
Key Accountabilities
- The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:
- Applying manufacturers' instructions for testing, adjusting and maintaining equipment.
- Reading and analyzing AC and DC prints and test results.
- Installing, acceptance testing, repair, and investigating questionable operations, of all types of relays, instrument transformers, telemetering equipment, load control equipment, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment, and oscillographic equipment.
- Capable of preparing written reports and sketches, able to discriminate as to circuits and equipment clearances in order to safely perform the work.
- Execute the necessary switching operations in accordance with a duly authorized switching order.
- Capable of working on energized equipment without causing interruptions to service.
- Setting, testing, calibrating, adjusting and repairing all types of protective relays.
- Perform all necessary system operational tests to insure proper functional performance of complete protection, control, telemetering, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- The successful candidate will be required to work overtime on an as needed basis and participate in national grid's Emergency Restoration Program.
- Operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a valid New York State motor operators license is required.
Qualifications
An Associates Degree from an accredited college in Electrical Technology is required. Applicants will need to provide a copy of their degree, a copy of their official college transcript and pass a written screening exam to be considered for this position.

Pay: $ 35.65 an hour
