Job Purpose

This position supports the execution of regulatory strategy across the NY jurisdiction and is responsible for supporting the execution of key elements of the strategy such as rate cases, cost of service models, and other regulatory filings along with analyses and proposals for National Grid’s operations in New York. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare and maintain revenue requirement models, calculations and procedures in order to support regulatory filings (ex. rate cases, compliance filings, regulatory reports) and ensure accurate information is provided to regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that regulatory analysis is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
  • Independently collate and analyze regulatory data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the development of regulatory strategy as well as challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal business personnel regarding the development and interpretation of regulatory and rate case filings / outcomes in order to provide support and to ensure policies and compliance of outcomes are applied consistently while building cross-functional working in line with National Grid policies and processes.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external key stakeholders including PSC Staff, in order to share best practice, and provide technical advice and build bases of influence.
  • Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information to support the accounting related to rate cases.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments and build upon technical/professional skills within all areas of Regulation and Pricing in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and confidence.
  • Team leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, or related field and up to 2 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree/credits are preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills; have the ability to quickly grasp complex issues and can effectively integrate, compile and analyze complex information and data to provide timely and accurate interpretation of analyses.
  • Knowledge and experience in revenue requirement and cost of service development and a sound understanding of financial analysis tools and techniques is preferred.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications e.g. SAP, Access, Excel, PowerPlan, BI/HANA Reports and Word with strong knowledge of data management.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, and must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner to large groups, senior management; internal customers and external contacts.

Salary: $66,000 - $78,000
