National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands. 

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project. 

About the Position

As an Associate Program Manager, Corporate Safety you will drive the coordination and communications of National Grid’s new and revised safety programs. Safety is of utmost importance for our workforce as well as the communities we serve here at National Grid. In this role, you will ensure that safety criteria are reflected in our organizational system design, equipment, procedures, and more in line with industry best practices and regulatory compliance.  

 

This is a hybrid role that can be located in Syracuse, NY, or Albany, NY.  

What You'll Do

As an Associate Analyst, you will drive increased efficiency and effectiveness within our Safety Programs thus keeping our workforce and community safe.

 

 In this role you will:

  • Coordinate and execute safety stakeholder strategy, plans and action items/tasks.
  • Consult with business stakeholders, including employees, union leaders, and contractors, also external agencies, regarding effective safety programs, communications and tools/platforms.
  • Design and execute effective safety program communications to drive learning, culture change, and decision making within our business.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline/consolidate written safety programs to eliminate redundancy.
  • Advocate outcomes and recommendations to cross functional audiences through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Support strategic initiatives to help achieve a pro-active safety culture.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution     

  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025 

  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025  

  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy 

  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization) 

It would be awesome if you had

  • A degree or experience in occupational safety  

  • Certification or experience in project management 

More Information

Salary Range 
$56,950 - $73,700 a year 

 

Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
