National Grid is hiring a Lead Program Manager, Project Management for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

Required by the Massachusetts legislature, Electric Sector Modernization Plans (ESMPs) are strategic roadmaps to modernize and upgrade the electric grid to enable an affordable, equitable clean energy transition, whilst ensuring the grid can handle increased demand from electrification and the deployment of renewable energy sources.  The Lead Program Manager will lead the governance, prioritization, analysis, and reporting of the ESMP portfolio.  This position will work closely with the ESMP Delivery team and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of the ESMP portfolio.  
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead overall ESMP portfolio governance and portfolio management activities.
  • Develop and drive the portfolio prioritization process and ensure alignment with regulatory commitments.
  • Responsible for portfolio analysis and reporting for internal and external communication. 
  • Ensure compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities ESMP regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintenance of project documentation controls and Project file folder maintenance.
  • Manage and ensure ESMP team in adherence to DOA compliance, and on P/L reporting.
  • Develop materials and lead discussions on strategic and portfolio updates to senior leaders including executive steering committees.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation of project management processes, methodologies, and tools, including National Grid's Business Management System (BMS) reporting. 
  • Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant fields, coupled with significant experience in project management, contracts, construction, and operations.  Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience within the energy sector in one or more of the following areas: project management, engineering, contracts, construction or operations. 
  • PMP / CAPM certification, PE license or other relevant certification preferred. 
  • 5+ years of detailed project financial forecasting and reporting. 
  • 5+ years of managing and coaching teams. 
  • 5+ years of experience presenting to senior leadership and executives. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality.   
  • Demonstrated interest in National Grid’s vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future.
  • Primavera P6, Procore and PowerPlan experience. 
  • Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word and MS Teams experience. 
  • Valid driver’s license.
