National Grid is hiring a Manager, Transmission Line Construction for our Electric Project Management & Construction department based in Massachusetts.

The Role

Lead and motivate the NE Construction team, that constructs electric projects, to support the successful operation and maintenance of the New England electric system. 

What You'll Do

•    Manage an internal labor workforce of 140+ employees responsible for delivering an average construction portfolio valued at $150M+ annually
•    Optimize construction delivery to achieve high productivity, low costs, and efficient work practices and to ensure compliance with National Grid policies and procedures
•    Promote the philosophy of safe working to employees
•    Direct the efforts and resources of the team to ensure safety, reliability, security, and integrity consistent with company goals, objectives, and policies while maintaining full compliance with applicable existing and future governing agency codes and regulations
•    Provide off hour response to non–planned system emergency situations
•    Work with management stakeholders to identify and implement business process improvements and best practices in a consistent manner; and remain abreast of changing environments
•    Recruit, motivate, and develop a team to inspire innovation, commitment, and engagement to improve long term group performance
•    Travel frequently throughout the New England region

About You

•    High school diploma or equivalent required
•    5+ years of utility construction experience required
•    Bachelor’s degree in technical field or 7 to 10 years of electric utility construction experience, including 3 to 5 years of utility management experience preferred
•    Experience managing a construction workforce with focus on safety, cost control, adherence to environmental regulations, work quality and efficiency preferred
•    Familiarity with the tools, equipment, materials, and qualifications of a workforce which support construction required
•    Strong aptitude for computer and business applications used to fully leverage technology solutions in the construction work environment required
•    Familiarity with contracting practices as it relates to bid, awards, and contract language in the construction field preferred
•    Familiarity with the collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolution, and arbitration process preferred
•    Valid driver’s license required

Salary

$156,000 - $183,000 a year
