Job Purpose
Working within the New England Electric Network Strategy and Regulation organization, the Principal Program Manager, Electric Regulatory Delivery will support project accounting and finance activities needed to successfully deliver on National Grid’s Grid Modernization and Electric Sector Modernization Programs (ESMP). This role entails understanding both the regulatory cost recovery frameworks and internal financial controls to ensure that modernization projects are delivered in a prudent and timely fashion.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop subject matter expertise of our regulatory allowances and obligations, and accounting policies
- Create and maintain financial accounting and controls for Grid Modernization Program and Electric Sector Modernization Plan for both capital costs and operating expenses
- Educate relevant stakeholders on cost recovery rules, relevant tariffs, incremental O&M charging, FERC accounting, and capital project creation
- Develop portfolio and project tracking and reporting capabilities
- Maintain and update project and portfolio forecasts over multiple time horizons
- Guide stakeholders through capital sanction process to ensure projects align with regulatory recovery guidelines and monitor all portfolio capital sanction activity
- Verify project actuals and perform variance analysis to identify deviations from forecast
- Implement controls to monitor and correct improper charging and Operating Company allocations
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across project teams, finance, and regulatory
- Lead cost recovery filings including creation of cost exhibits and support documentation
- Lead, motivate and develop senior level analysts to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and stakeholder needs
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience (i.e., project accounting and financial modeling experience)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
- Advanced degrees and accreditations are preferred in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, and the ability to translate accounting conclusions to business outcomes
- Deep project accounting and management experience
- Expert with Excel pivot tables
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, etc.)
- Ability to independently analyze, formulate and implement business strategies
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and prioritization skills on large scale projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Familiarity with SAP and other internal financial management systems

Salary: $139,000 - $163,000
