National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst, Market Development for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations
Job Purpose
This role plays a critical part in transforming how National Grid enables customer participation in achieving Massachusetts’ 2050 clean energy policy goals. Under the Commercial and Customer Strategy team, a successful candidate drives the strategy and execution of National Grid’s Distributed System Operator (DSO) function in Massachusetts. Key responsibilities include coordinating DSO business capability development, creating and testing strategic business models to position National Grid as an effective DSO, and supporting delivery of DSO-related regulatory compliance activities. The position requires collaboration across various departments and teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, long-term business strategies, and the effective integration of DSO initiatives into the utility's operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate the development and enhancement of DSO business capabilities across the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Develop and refine strategic business models that support National Grid’s effectiveness as a DSO, aligning with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to integrate DSO initiatives into existing operations and processes.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Aid in compliance of DSO-related regulatory requirements and standards, including timely reporting and documentation.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with DSO initiatives, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the DSO function, identifying areas for operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum: BS in finance/business/economics/engineering with 3-5 years of relevant experience (e.g., roles involving project management, regulatory compliance, business development, process improvement, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations, and market fundamentals.
- Understanding of US Transmission and Distribution grid operations and utility business models.
- Ability to learn from, adapt, test and deliver new and differing ideas from a large set of stakeholders.
- Ability to extract and derive actions from internal or external DSO-related information.
- Strong written, visual, and oral communication skills to effectively communicate business development topics to leadership and matrixed team members.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with people of different backgrounds and culture.

Salary - $105,000 - $123,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
