National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer for our interactive and team-oriented NE Central division Gas Engineering Design team in Waltham, MA.
 

The Team

You'll join an engineering design team that develops and manages all engineering aspects for natural gas distribution projects within the Central Region territory. The NE Central Gas Engineering Design team is responsible for the design of standard and complex natural gas projects. We support the design of main and service replacements, public works, reliability and growth projects to the west, northwest and south of Boston. 

Your Role

As a Senior Engineer, you'll develop and coordinate designs for natural gas engineering projects to enhance system reliability and growth. 

  • Work with and manage external engineering design firms and ensure their designs are performed in accordance with company standards and industry standards  
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize work, working collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders  
  • Assess project scopes and identify required variances prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project outcome  
  • Implement change control procedures to track design changes instituted by engineering or field operations and identify any associated risks that may result
     

 

About You

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
  • 6+ years in a civil or mechanical engineering role required
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite required 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with experience using Civil 3D or similar Bentley software products required
  • Familiarity with municipal, state, or federal engineering design permitting processes, preferably in Massachusetts preferred
  • Experience using ArcGIS software preferred
  • PE license preferred 
  • Valid driver’s license required

Salary

$108,000 - $127,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
