National Grid is hiring a Senior Supervisor for our Gas Customer Meter Services Commercial and Industrial fitting department in West Roxbury, MA.

Job Purpose

We are responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned operations personnel in order to effectively accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements. This may include oversight and/or collaboration with Construction Personnel, Field Operations Personnel, External Contractors, Gas Emergency First Responders, Service Persons, Mark-out Personnel, and other company or contractor employees on National Grid job sites.

Key Accountabilities

· Implement policies and procedures and ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of natural gas customers’ premises as well as the Company’s distribution system, while fulfilling statutory requirements and meeting or exceeding performance incentives

· Monitor and enforce work rules, standards and procedures for emergency response, leak investigation, and other scheduled work, while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations

· Respond to natural gas emergencies and coordinate with other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators and the Police and Fire Departments

· Support achievement of goals, including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response and safety

· Supervise a culturally diverse workforce, through coaching, counseling, and team building to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks

· Ensure safe working conditions are maintained through field inspections of work sites and equipment

· Participate in on-call or after hour supervisory duties

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Significant management experience and proven demonstration of leadership qualities.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related operations work experience to include the supervision of others, SME or Project Lead experience preferred

· In lieu of degree, 3+ years of related operations work experience to include the supervision of others, SME or Project Lead experience required

· Plumbing/gas fitting experience 2+ years

· Prior leadership experience with a focus on Gas Construction, Gas Field Operations, or Customer Meter Services preferred

· Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction and maintenance practices preferred

· Proven demonstration of quality labor relations skills including interpretation of contract language, resolution of grievances and issues related to sickness and poor standards of work and the implementation of corrective action where necessary preferred

· Exceptional safety record, strong oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to maximize performance of subordinates required

· Solid planning and organizing skills required

· Valid driver’s license required

$121k - $170k a year
