Senior FP&A Analyst

We’re looking for a passionate Senior FP&A Analyst to join our NGED FP&A Team! As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you’ll support the Business Planning processes to increase effectiveness and maximise the insight provided to meet all internal and external stakeholder requirements in line with National Grid’s strategic aims.
You’ll ensure the compilation of the NGED’s strategic business plan (SBP), the quarterly reforecasting (including finance briefs at half year and Year end) and the annual budget setting process as well as provide accurate and clear communication of complex financial issues.
This role is based out of our Castle Donington office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Support delivery of the Strategic Business Planning (SBP) & Budgeting process including full modelling, scenario planning and the preparation of Entity Executive reporting, Entity Board reporting and Group reporting.
- Support delivery of the end-to-end Forecasting process including modelling, scenario planning and the preparation of Group reporting.
- Review and challenge Entity performance to provide insightful reporting, aligned to group and entity targets.
- Act as a partner for assigned Finance Business Partners to support them in generating and interpreting business. and financial information and using it effectively to make informed business decisions.
- Assist in calculating and maintaining the alternative performance measures, including Return of Equity, RAV, Regulatory Financial Performance, Timing etc. Both for planning and actuals processes.
- Support processes by setting accurate timetables, key performance metrics and guidance to ensure delivery to agreed timescales and stakeholder requirements.
- Review and challenge Entity performance to provide insightful reporting, aligned to group and entity targets.
- Support FP&A responsibilities with any internal/external management reporting and working with Investor Relations where needed.
- Assist the FP&A Senior Managers and Head of FP&A as appropriate on other financial issues as required.
What You'll Have
- Qualified Accountant, (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with planning, forecasting and budgeting experience.
- Strong MS Excel skill and working knowledge of financial modelling.
- Reporting Financial Information, Financial & Investment Appraisal, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Forecasting experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities/SAP S/4 working knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work in tight deadlines.
- Ability to influence and shape decisions.
- Detail orientated, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build relationships across the business and influence stakeholders.
- Ability to work with large volumes of data to provide insightful business intelligence.
- Confident in summarising complex transactions, weighing up all the relevant factors, such as how transactions impact other areas of the business to senior management.
