About the role

National Grid Strategic Infrastructure is developing and constructing a series of HVDC projects along the east coast of Great Britain. These projects play a vital part in achieving the UK Government’s ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. 

 

As a Commercial Project Manager, you'll manage commercial excellence projects that connect clean, low-carbon power to England and Wales. You'll assist the Commercial Excellence team in managing a portfolio of projects, and the lessons learnt will be shared across the wider business. 

 

This role welcomes applicants UK wide, and we offer hybrid working from office and home. You can expect to travel to our UK offices as required and your local office at least once a week. 

Key accountabilities

  • Manage one or more Commercial Excellence projects, depending on the project lifecycle. 
  • Employ a robust risk management process, whenever a project requires changes, ensuring the project remains within governance. 
  • Ensure visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project, such as behavioural charters, frameworks, contract management plans, capability pathways and lessons learnt. You will also share good practices and reinforce positive behaviours.  
  • Foster a collaborative environment with internal stakeholders to ensure commercial excellence programme is an enabler of delivery.

About you

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of commercial principles and project lifecycles.
  • Experience of project management/PMO on large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders to facilitate cross functional teams which operate collaboratively and innovatively.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential and you'll be flexible to some overnight UK travel.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £46,000 - £58,000 – dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement car, a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
