About The Role
Brand New Role – Hybrid Based – Permanent
The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding – together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.
This role provides the satisfaction of end-to-end ownership and accountability for highly technical, big impact infrastructure projects.
You’ll be involved in identifying fit-for-purpose contracting strategies, influencing the shaping of the regulatory environment and protecting value for the end consumer through judicious contract management.
We need to ensure our portfolio of HVDC projects (2 projects initially, possibly advancing to 4) that transfer clean, green energy throughout Great Britain is contracted and delivered efficiently. Not only will these projects make a significant contribution to Net Zero, they will also form part of the solution to the issue of energy security, allowing us to utilise more and more homegrown power.
This role offers hybrid working from office and home. Its expected you’d be need to visit of Warwick office around twice per month.
We have other offices for use, including our Warwick HQ, Birmingham, Leeds and Chesterfield.

About You
What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience in turn-key contracts, including cost assurance and relationship management.
- Excellent risk management knowledge within a contract management context.
It would be beneficial if you had HVDC market knowledge in relation to cables, converters and civils however this is in no way crucial.
Whats more important is your attitude, behaviour and integrity when working on NG contracts as well as being collaborative and comfortable challenging others,being challenged in return. You’ll be happy to learn and talk to people to work toward tem based solutions.
You will need a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK and the flexibility to travel when necessary.

What You'll Do
You’ll work proactively with contractors to identify value, as well as working through dispute resolution and mitigation. With an estimated spend of £6.3bn across 2 x projects, this is BIG WORK.
You’ll execute contracts, ensuring value for money and importantly on time delivery.
You’ll understand the procurement and regulatory environment in which we operate. We go to the regulator with market tested rates, build our cost submission and protect value for the end consumer by delivering safely, to programme, and within our pre-agreed funding. Working with the procurement team you will adhere to robust procurement governance and use your experience of the tender process to negotiate the best possible deal on price, and terms and conditions.
Supporting and influencing meetings with a range of different stakeholders including internal procurement, delivery, regulation, and legal teams, as well as external transmission system owners. Supporting the transition from the commercial (pre-contract) to the contract (delivery) phase will be an important responsibility.
This will also involve helping internal delivery teams understand the terms of the contract, utilising your high levels of risk management expertise.
Not only are we negotiating on contract price, we are also identifying risks within the tender submissions that then feed into the regulatory funding submission, which ultimately affects how much money we receive from the regulator.
Monitoring contractor performance and regularly reporting into the budget board on commercial issues, you will be reporting back to internal managers who will feed back to contractors and the project board including risk management.

What You'll Get
A competitive starting salary between £73,000 – £88,000 – dependent on capability, plus brand new fully electric or hybrid vehicle.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
