About the role

Working across our major high-voltage direct current (HVDC) ASTI projects such as this brand new role will act as a respected subject matter expert within the wider project team you’ll ensure that one of our critical projects is delivered in a way that manages our impact on the existing environment and foster a more positive future environment. 


Focusing on our key priorities, you’ll help in minimising carbon emissions, fostering biodiversity, and leaving a positive enduring legacy. 


You will support the setting of sustainability strategies and ensuring our projects are not just meeting but exceeding the company commitments. 


You’ll take a lead in monitoring performance and compliance against the projects environmental and sustainability goals, developing a positive environmental culture across the project and supporting the successful delivery of some of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
This role is hybrid based, aligned to our East Coast offshore projects therefore applicants should be open to travel across this geography and with occasional travel to visit our wider portfolio of projects across England and Wales.


We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

•    Environmental/sustainability experience within major project delivery, experience within a client organisation is preferred. 
•    Experience of positively influencing a wider project team and external stakeholders 
•    The capability to engage and inform internal and external stakeholders in positive, constructive ways
•    Knowledge of best practice in relation to environmental and sustainable delivery management 
•    Experience of supporting environmental incident investigation

Given the geographical breadth of our projects, applicants will require a UK driving license.

What you'll do

 

  • You’ll be working as part of a blended nvironmental and sustainability team in the development and implementation of our projects environmental and sustainability strategy, working with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve our sustainability goals. This will include shapping the approach to environmental management within our projects; ensuring the risk to the environment is managed effectively.
  • You’ll communicate the key environmental requirements in a way that is meaningful to project teams and wider stakeholders to build a workplace culture that is passionate about the environment and take the lead in the development of training, resources, and guidance for the project team, highlighting key risks across the project.   
  • Measuring our sustainability performance, you will ensure reporting requirements are met in an efficient manner, advising project leadership on sustainability goals, opportunities, and performance.
  • Additionally, you’ll support in the investigation of any environmental incidents and take a lead in ensuring any learning is shared and embedded across the project’s supply chain. 
  • All this will enable the construction contractors to meet the ambitious project requirements. 

 

What you'll get

 

A competitive starting salary between £52,000 – £62,000 – dependent on capability plus a brand new hybrid or fully electric car for company and personal use.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
