Join National Grid as a LGV Class 2 driver in our OMU (Oil Management Unit) based in Dartford, the OMU supports the business in delivering and collecting oil tanks from substations primarily across England and Wales and providing oil treatment services.
Don’t worry, we will train you but essentially you’ll be responsible for driving one of our brand new fleet of Volvo class 2 trucks (rigid dropside, rear steer 26T truck with a front mounted 12 T/m Palfinger crane) delivering and collecting mobile oil tanks from high voltage substations across the Midlands and Southern England, this includes the topping up of Transformers on site with new oil. Typical activity is 1 delivery or collection per day however the work is not scheduled but as required by the in site teams. Due to the area covered you will be required to stop overnight 1 -2 nights per month to which we will pay a mobility allowance.
When you are not driving you’ll be operating waste treatment mobile equipment at our waste treatment facility in Dartford. This covers minor maintenance of mobile tanks and plant, learning to test oil quality and housekeeping duties. You can also train for a FLT Counterbalance licence if you do not already have one.
Requirements
• LGV Class 2 license.
• Can stop overnight 1 – 2 nights per month.
• Live within 45 mins travel of Dartford.
Desirable
• FLT Counterbalance up to 5 tons.
• LGV Class 1 license
• Lorry Loader crane operator license.
Pay and Benefit
• A starting salary of £33,854 pa + Paid overtime + Mobility allowance
• 37 Hours per week Mon – Fri, occasional weekend work
