About the role

 

National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) Innovation team plays a big part in delivering an affordable network that is safe, reliable and resilient, and is critical for decarbonising the UK economy through innovation. We work with innovators and stakeholders through the entire lifecycle of an innovation project, to anticipate the future needs for NGET. 

 

Our Innovation Test Centre at Deeside Centre offers testing services for projects from National Grid, other networks, academic institutions and companies who want to use the unique facilities available to test and prove their innovative ideas and methods.

 

As Contract Lead, you will work with teams across NGET and external stakeholders to promote the use of the facility and the services available to maximise utilisation.  You’ll ensure the commercial framework is developed and maintained to accommodate a wide range of customers to maximise the revenues.

 

In addition, you’ll promote marketing activities and maintain customer relationships, to promote within the UK as well as globally.  


You’ll also work closely with financial, legal and compliance teams to ensure that contractual terms and conditions are in place, which provide appropriate protection for NGET and its customers.  


You’ll be able to base yourself out of our Centre in Deeside, or offices in Warwick for 2 days per week and you can combine this with hybrid working from home.


Summary of Key Accountabilities

  • Promote and advertise the site and associated services to potential customers, developing an effective and attractive brand for the facility.
  • Seek out new customers, identifying requirements, and trigger development work to identify opportunities to meet their requirements.
  • Manage new customer relationships and develop a “sales process” for the facility, identifying opportunities and process changes within the business.
  • Manage contractual relationships with the users of the site, negotiating any commercial disputes.
  • Develop and maintain metrics, KPIs and reporting on the commercial and contractual information for site utilisation and revenue generated.
  • Work with finance and commercial teams to set revenue budgets and then maintain forecast data through the year.

 

 

What you'll need

 

With experience in a Commercial or Contract Management role, ideally within a utilities company, you’ll have sound Engineering knowledge.  You’ll have the ability to converse with Engineers with credibility, to both understand the customer opportunity and be able to translate those requirements for NGET to consider.


You’ll have a proven track record of being able to influence at a Senior Level within a Commercial framework and have experience of managing multiple stakeholders or projects.


Strong Negotiations Skills are essential as are stakeholder management skills. 


You’ll ideally have an understanding of the Regulatory & Energy Industry, including their assets, System Design & Project Delivery fundamentals.
