As an Accounts Payable - Assistant Manager, you’ll join our dynamic Accounts Payable team who are dedicated to delivering exceptional service to both our internal stakeholders and our network of over 5,000 trade suppliers. With over 275,000 invoices processed annually, totalling more than £1 billion, our team contributions make a significant impact!

 

This role can be based out of our Plymouth office, and we’d hope to see you in the office full-time to complete your training. Thereafter, we are happy to accommodate hybrid working with circa 3 days in the office per week. We’re also happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Master Accounts Payable Processes: Gain in-depth knowledge of all Accounts Payable functions, including:
    - Invoice processing and query resolution
    - Duplicate payment analysis
    - Company credit card administration
    - Banking and cheque administration
    - Balance sheet monitoring
  • Team Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, including recruitment, training, and development.
  • Audit and Compliance: Conduct audit walkthroughs and sampling, ensuring adherence to AP SOX controls throughout the year.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify pain points and explore opportunities for process enhancements, efficiencies, and automation.
  • Project Involvement: Assist with exciting projects such as system upgrades and dashboard management.
  • Metrics and KPIs: Prepare and develop key performance indicators to track team success.
  • Support Management: Provide coverage for the Accounts Payable Manager as needed.

What You’ll Have:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills is essential. AAT preferred but not essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Leadership experience is preferred to help guide and inspire the team.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with internal procedures and systems, as well as statutory requirements and compliance, is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are a must.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, self-confidence, and motivation are key to success in this role.
  • Adaptability: A pragmatic approach with the ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and stakeholder needs.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to set and manage customer expectations while engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Results Orientation: A strong focus on achieving results and driving team performance.

What You'll Get:

Up to £54,000 depending on experience.

 

As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
