About the role

Strategic Infrastructure is developing and constructing a series of HVDC projects along the east coast of Great Britain. These projects play a vital part in achieving the UK Government’s ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030.

 

Sea Link is one of these projects, it connects to the NGET transmission system between Suffolk and Kent. As a Head of Delivery – Offshore Cables, you'll lead the delivery of the cable EPC contract and related contracts, covering both onshore and marine scope of the project.

 

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. However, you will be expected to travel to the South East / East Anglia sites and London office 3 days a week. 

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for the definition, development, delivery, and successful completion of complex HVDC project packages that have individual budgets of up to £1bn, safely, to time, budget, and quality. 
  • Take ownership of delivering the programme, successfully integrating multiple EPC contracts into a well-functioning, collaborative project outcome.
  • Lead by example to drive a safety culture to achieve and uphold the highest levels of health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, direction, and leadership to the project team while ensuring resources meet budget and business plan objectives. 
  • Responsible for the integration of activities of multiple, major project operations; ensuring that project efforts are cohesive, consistent, and effective in supporting National Grid’s vision, goals, and strategic plan. 

About you

You should be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline with a considerable breadth and depth of proven experience in construction project / programme and contract management, ideally with cable or marine scope.

 

You will have extensive experience working at a senior level within construction or infrastructure projects. Experience leading large, complex programmes of work, enabling project teams to operate innovatively, effectively, and efficiently is key.

 

With strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing large, devolved teams, and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group, you will have customer management experience, and be able to influence customers and partner organisations.

 

Relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts, is essential as is experience of leading change and business improvement within a complex organisation/programme or project. 

 

The ability to manage complex commercial arrangements, including setting up, negotiating, and managing large contracts is key as in in depth financial experience, having previously manged large capital budgets, along with in depth experience of managing large Operating Costs.

What you'll get

A competitive starting salary between £80,000 - £100,000 – dependent on capability.
