National Grid is hiring a OT Director - Technical Head of CNI - This position can be based from any main sites - Warwick or London.

Job Purpose

 

Lead the development and delivery of Business Unit CNI platforms and products to meet NGET and IT demands. Manage 24/7 support services for high availability CNI solutions, serving as the senior escalation point for system issues, including on-call availability. This role is critical, as failures can result in significant financial and reputational damage to National Grid. You will be accountable for the entire lifecycle management of all Business Unit CNI solutions and products, developing policies, standards, processes, and guidelines to ensure their security.

What you'll do

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Solution Architecture: Lead the development of complex solution architectures, ensuring alignment with requirements and managing trade-offs across the organization. Maintain consistency and adherence to standards across multiple projects.
  • Emerging Technology Monitoring: Identify and assess new technologies, creating technology roadmaps that align with organizational plans. Engage stakeholders to secure commitment to these roadmaps.
  • System Development Management: Direct the implementation and improvement of the systems development management framework, aligning it with business strategies and emerging technologies.
  • Business Process Improvement: Lead strategic business process improvement initiatives, developing policies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and consistency across the organization.
  • System and Software Lifecycle Engineering: Represent and lead best practices in systems and software lifecycle management, driving innovation and overseeing quality to deliver measurable business benefits.
  • Product Management: Manage the full product lifecycle, ensuring customer needs are met and financial targets achieved. Analyze market data to inform product development and coordinate testing and launches.
  • Technology Service Management: Oversee the provision of technology services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and managing resources effectively to meet service level agreements.
  • Service Level Management: Monitor service delivery against targets, ensuring operational methods and tools are maintained and proposing changes as needed.
  • Supplier Management: Develop policies for effective supplier management, ensuring quality service delivery and managing risks across the supply chain.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build strategic relationships with stakeholders, leading engagement strategies and ensuring mutual understanding of needs.

 

Line Management Responsibilities

 

  • Performance Management: Lead workgroups to achieve organizational objectives, providing feedback and facilitating individual development.
  • Employee Experience: Enhance employee engagement and wellbeing through supportive practices and clear communication of business direction.
  • Organizational Facilitation: Support cross-functional teams in achieving goals, guiding decision-making and problem-solving processes.
  • Professional Development: Identify development needs and align activities with organizational priorities, supporting practitioners in their career growth.
  • Resourcing: Plan and manage resource acquisition and deployment, ensuring compliance with standards and improving resourcing processes.

About you

 

  • Experience of setting strategy & direction for Mission Critical applications / infrastructure including knowledge and operational experience of Cyber Security defenses in IT and Mission Critical systems
  • Experience of working with Control Rooms and Utility Business communities. 
  • Can successfully operate at Executive level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Business Entity
  • Knowledge and experience of Operational Technology, including ADMS/SCADA  
  • Experience of IT strategic, investment and programme planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities
  • A good understanding of the business area within which they are operating
  • Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results
  • A good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results
  • Experience of sourcing, service models and leading and driving partner relationships for delivery
