Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of pensions governance? We are seeking a dedicated and dynamiPensions Governance Manager to join our team at National Grid. 

 

In this pivotal role,  you will report directly to the Pensions Finance Business Partner and the Group Head of Pensions to develop and implement the UK Pension’s governance strategy, ensuring our legislative and compliance pension risks and issues are mitigated and associated governance controls are established.

 

This role will be based out of our London office (located at the Strand), and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Development: Define, develop, and implement the UK Pensions governance strategy, control frameworks, and policies to mitigate legislative and compliance risks.
  • Trustee Support: Collaborate with the Group Head of Pensions on succession planning for employer-nominated trustees and assist in the search, selection, and appointment of Independent Trustees and Chairs.
  • Risk Management: Manage and deliver National Grid’s risk and compliance requirements for the UK pensions team, serving as a consultant and subject matter expert on US-related issues.
  • Internal Controls: Review and update internal controls for the Group Pensions Team, acting as the control owner to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Research & Insights: Stay ahead of external trends and best practices in governance and risk, providing valuable recommendations to the Group Pensions leadership team.
  • Board Support: Offer high-calibre secretariat support to the Group Pensions leadership team, including agenda management, meeting minutes, and action follow-ups.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in year-end financial reporting, ensuring smooth communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • SoX Compliance: Play a key role in the operation of Group Pensions Sarbanes Oxley (SoX) controls, verifying results and reporting to Group Risk & Controls.
  • Project Management: Lead or assist in various pensions and governance-related projects, driving continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Data Privacy: Act as the Compliance and Data Privacy Champion for the Group Pensions Team, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Payroll Management: Foster a strong relationship with Group Payroll to resolve pensions-related queries efficiently.

About You:

  • Pensions Management Institute Qualification – preferred 
  • A strong understanding of pensions governance 
  • A passion for governance and risk management
  • Proven SoX Compliance experience 
  • Project management skills – Prince 2 (desirable)
  • Adaptable and a team player
  • Proactive and detail-oriented
