National Grid is hiring a Reward Communications Specialist to join the global benefits and engagement team.
The Reward Communications Specialist strategically designs and delivers initiatives aimed at significantly enhancing colleague engagement and overall experience with our global benefits programs. This role ensures that communication and engagement efforts align seamlessly with broader business objectives, fostering increased awareness, appreciation, and utilization of benefits across our diverse global workforce.

What you'll do
Strategic Leadership and Experience Design
- Develop and lead innovative, comprehensive global engagement strategies for employee benefits that drive improved participation, understanding, and satisfaction
- Act as part of a project team to ensure alignment with total reward colleague engagement and experience principles.
- Act as a key leader in global benefits colleague engagement projects, particularly annual enrollment processes, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic direction and industry-leading practices.
- Serve as an internal consultant, proactively identifying trends and providing expertise on emerging innovations in benefits engagement and experience.
Operational Management - Oversee and execute annual engagement and comms plans, continually assessing their effectiveness through rigorous data analytics and feedback loops.
- Regularly audit and enhance digital communication platforms, ensuring content is accurate, compelling, relevant, and user-friendly.
- Utilize analytical insights to identify gaps and opportunities, driving continual improvements in employee benefits communication and engagement.
Stakeholder and Vendor Partnership - Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, including Global People and brand teams and central internal comms team, ensuring culturally relevant and impactful messaging.
- Align external vendor strategies with internal engagement goals, optimizing colleague experience and external communications.
Content Development and Delivery
- Create engaging, clear, and informative content tailored for global audiences across various media, including digital, print, webinars, video, and live presentations.
- Ensure communications resonate across diverse colleague groups, enhancing benefits literacy at critical career and life moments.
Budget and Resource Management
- Effectively manage and monitor the global benefits engagement and experience budget.
- Ensure optimal resource utilization and compliance with budget constraints for engagement initiatives.
Compliance and Market Trends
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of global benefits compliance requirements, including relevant legislation and market practices in the UK, US, and internationally.
- Provide proactive advice on market disruptions and legislative changes impacting global benefit strategies.
What you'll need
- Extensive experience in benefits engagement, communication, and experience design on a global scale.
- Expertise in translating complex benefits information into clear and engaging communications.
- Proficiency in using HRIS, benefits platforms, and data analytics tools.
- Proven success in managing global projects and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong knowledge of global benefits regulations, market trends, and best practices (including US ERISA, IRS regulations, HIPAA; UK Salary Sacrifice and benefits compliance).
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the ongoing design, implementation and improvement of employee benefits programmes and key policy areas including Family Provisions, Flexible Working, Business Expenses and Flexible Benefits.
- Manage the delivery channels for specific C&B) activities, either through the Shared Services Centre or 3rd party providers. (e.g., maximising the effectiveness of the Front Desk and overall query management for the C&B processes; implementation of the annual Flexible Benefits).
- Externally benchmark, via periodic or ad hoc surveys or research, to maximise National GridâÂÂs awareness and knowledge of market practice in all areas of compensation and benefits and thereby support business decision making.
- Interpret legislation and tax rules regulating C&B to ensure all policies and processes are implemented in a legally compliant manner.
- Conduct analysis and produce key statistical information and metrics required for business-as-usual and project activity. For example, value for money reviews of employee benefits).
- Engage key stakeholders to ensure that C&B frameworks are relevant and valued.
- Support the effective communication of all the C&B policies and processes to ensure they are fully understood and appreciated.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £48,000 - £60,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
