We’re looking for a passionate Stakeholder Engagement Officer to join our External Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement team! The Stakeholder Engagement Officer will play a key role in supporting with development and execution of stakeholder engagement strategies for ED3 and across NGED. The External Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement team is accountable for all the company’s engagement activities, ensuring stakeholders, customer groups, and other interested parties are informed and engaged in National Grid’s business activities. The team are accountable for ensuring a robust engagement strategy that satisfies the regulator’s requirements for ongoing stakeholder engagement and will take the lead on the design and delivery of the company’s ED3 customer and stakeholder engagement programme – the largest ever engagement exercise the company will have ever undertaken that will be critical to securing a multi £bn investment plan for the future.

 

This role is based out of our Strand office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. What You'll Do

  • Support the delivery of an industry leading stakeholder engagement campaign for the company’s ED3 price review, making sure customers and stakeholder insights are gathered and used to support a robust business plan that secures support from the regulator.
  • Proactively engage with regional and national stakeholder groups to raise awareness of NGED’s strategic priorities and capture insights and input to support the business in the delivery of its business plan objectives and future planning.
  • Support the delivery of comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies that provide insight and support NGED to build a long-term view of how and where to engage and invest.
  • Responsible for maintaining a register of the engagement undertaken recording this in the National Grid Stakeholder Management System and maintain an up-to-date repository of relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote and ensure best practice between regional stakeholder groups and provide guidance for improvements as required.
  • Triage external requests for data and meetings, organising meetings with the relevant people within NGED
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to develop an understanding of NGED activities and interests to support external stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate stakeholder satisfaction and engagement levels, aspiring to develop industry leading engagement standards.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of stakeholder engagement activities to Ofgem and other bodies, ensuring NGED is seen as a leader and that incentives for stakeholder engagement are achieved to their maximum.
  • Keep abreast of stakeholder developments across the NGED region and monitor how other DNOs and industry partners are engaging with stakeholders, benchmarking and adapting NGED’s approach to ensure our leading position is maintained.
  •  Work in close partnership with the Public Affairs team to coordinate engagement with political and local authority stakeholders, combining efforts where appropriate but always ensuring alignment and consistency of message.
  • Contribute to the development of materials for emerging issues and ensure consistent, timely communication with stakeholders.

What You'll Have

  • A Degree/Postgraduate Degree level is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups across the NGED area.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, external affairs, or community relations.
  • Ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines.
  • Creative and adaptable, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to translate complex information into accessible content for external stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and informative content for external audiences.
  • Experience in supporting stakeholder events and public consultations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise competing demands.
  • Comfortable travelling across the whole NGED region and beyond, as well as working outside of typically business hours, as business needs require.
  • Support and cover activities across all NGED licence areas or supporting the wider Corporate Affairs team, as necessary, when business needs require.

Up to £56,000 dependent on experience.
