About the role

Help us reach the full renewable energy potential in the North Sea via offshore hybrid projects.

Part of the National Grid Group, National Grid Ventures (NGV) develops, operates and invests in energy projects, technologies, and partnerships to accelerate the development of a clean energy future.

 

We have a strong track record of delivering electricity interconnector projects. By 2024, we'll have a total of six subsea electricity interconnectors with a capacity of 7.8 GW connecting the UK with four EU Member states (France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark), as well as Norway.

 

The North Sea has the potential to be a clean energy 'powerhouse' for Europe and we're working with European partners to develop a vision for offshore hybrid projects.

 

As a Strategy Manager, you'll join the European Offshore Development team reporting directly to the Head of European Strategy. We're leading the development of the next wave of offshore grid business development activities in conjunction with our EU partners. The European energy landscape is changing rapidly and you'll play a vital role in supporting the NGV Interconnectors business in defining its strategic direction to enable net zero and drive future growth.

 

This role is based from London or Warwick, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home.

About you

  • Experience in strategy development and/or execution in large and complex corporate and commercial environments, with an ability to apply a broad set of strategic frameworks to solve real business issues.
  • Broad understanding of the energy sector and regulatory issues affecting the industry and long term internal and external influences.
  • Ability to work with and influence executive level and senior leaders within an organisation, and engage effectively at multiple levels across an organisation.
  • Ability to lead and deliver high priority projects.
  • An understanding of the operational and commercial challenges faced by a business.
  • An ability to convey complex strategic ideas and proposals to a wide range of audiences in a structured and logical way, through both written and verbal forms.
  • Comfort working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders to facilitate cross functional teams which operate collaboratively and innovatively.
  • Ability to challenge entrenched thinking in a constructive manner; a willingness and openness to receiving similar challenge.
  • Ability to coach others to meet their full potential.
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £55,000 – £75,000 – dependent on capability. 

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
