National Grid is hiring an Programme Specialist for our Technical Training department.  This position can be located in either Eakring, Tipton, or Taunton.

 

The Programme Specialist will oversee the successful implementation of apprenticeship programs within the organisation. Ensuring apprentices progress effectively, maintain compliance with standards, and provide necessary support to apprentices throughout their program journey.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor and facilitate apprentice progression to ensure they meet program requirements and milestones.
  • Ensure strict adherence to apprenticeship standards, policies, and regulatory requirements to maintain program compliance.
  • Provide effective line management and supervision of learner reviewers, overseeing learner review  processes, and ensuring compliance.
  • Conduct regular sampling of apprentice portfolios to assess evidence quality and completeness.
  • Perform comprehensive observations of apprentices in various contexts (on/off job learning and internal/external training) and provide constructive feedback.
  • Manage the Onefile portfolio system for apprenticeship participants, including ownership, management of feedback, and marking of assessments.
  • Conduct audits of progress reviews to ensure accuracy and adherence to program requirements.
  • Generate and maintain learner progress reports, documenting apprentice development and achievements.
  • Plan and facilitate mentor and line manager meetings to provide guidance and support to apprentices.
  • Coordinate End-Point Assessment (EPA) registrations, including arranging for maths/English certifications and utilizing the ACE360 platform.
  • Develop and maintain manuals for each funded program, ensuring clarity and consistency in program delivery.
  • Lead apprentice surgeries and oversee apprentice sign-ups, Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and  training plans.
  • Provide support for Functional Skills training as required to help apprentices achieve necessary qualifications.
  • Attend EPA sessions to observe apprentice performance and provide developmental feedback.
  • Act as the main point of contact for apprentice learning requirements, offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure apprentices are adequately prepared for EPA by providing guidance, processes, and support materials.
  • Manage and provide leadership to the Trainee Development Assessor team, ensuring effective performance and adherence to organizational goals.

About You

  • Proven experience in managing apprenticeship programmes, preferably in the utility or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of apprenticeship standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Team management experience.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £46,000 – 58,000 – dependent on capability
