About the role

As a Project Support Officer for Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1), you'll provide support throughout the project delivery lifecycle. This will include supporting Project Managers and PMO team members with day-to-day project delivery tasks, while working in a large integrated and collaborative joint venture project team. You'll get involved with project controls processes, change control, gate governance, reporting and preparing appropriate communication documentation.

 

EGL1 is a two-gigawatt high voltage direct current electrical connection to be built between Torness in East Lothian, Scotland and Hawthorn Pit in County Durham. This multi-billion-pound project is being developed through a joint venture between SP Energy Networks and National Grid Electricity Transmission.

 

EGL1 is designed to unlock Scotland’s renewable energy reserves by scaling up the UK’s capacity to transport clean energy from where it is generated to where it is needed. You’ll be part of a team that will help bring power to millions – and supercharge your career at the same time!

 

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to offices and sites throughout County Durham and Edinburgh as required. 

Key accountabilities

  • Support the PMO Leads with all aspects of the PMO.
  • Support Project Managers in organising and managing meetings.
  • Manage action logs and prioritising workload for the team.
  • Prepare reporting packs for presentation at forums / meetings / stakeholder events.
  • Support the Document Controller with management of the Project SharePoint site.
  • Manage internal project communications.
  • Process and progress Change Requests.
  • Act as Technical Secretary in various meetings.
  • Prepare governance documentation ahead of gate reviews.

About you

  • Experience of working in a successful project delivery team.
  • A desire to progress their career into project management.
  • An awareness of project lifecycle processes and stage gates.
  • Good stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams quickly.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work in a collaborative team.
  • APM Project Management Qualifications (or similar) or keen to work towards this.
  • Experience within major projects and/or knowledge of Project Controls and Reporting principles is desirable.

What you'll get

A competitive salary circa. £36,000 – dependent on capability.
