About the role

As a Project Support Officer for our Yorkshire GREEN or North London Reinforcement (NLR) project, you'll provide support throughout the project delivery life cycle. This will include supporting project managers and consenting staff with day-to-day project delivery tasks, while working in a large, integrated and collaborative project team. Your role will be varied and include contract and finance management processes, procurement, change control, contract variations and preparing appropriate communication documentation.

 

These projects involve the upgrade and reinforcement of the high-voltage electricity network to improve the transfer of clean energy across the country. You'll be supporting some of the biggest, most exciting projects in green energy. These projects play a vital part in achieving the UK Government’s ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office/site and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to sites in either Yorkshire or North London approximately 3 days per week.

Key accountabilities

  • Process and progress change requests from Suppliers and National Grid.
  • Support the project team with the monthly drumbeat project management processes.
  • Support project managers in organising and managing meetings.
  • Managing action logs and prioritising workload for the team.
  • Preparation of slide packs for presentation at forums / meetings / stakeholder events.
  • Help support NEC contract management (Early warnings / Compensation Events / Applications for Payment).
  • Support the regular contractual audit processes where required.
  • Manage Purchase Order requisitions and support the project manager with finance forecasting.

About you

  • Experience of working in a successful project delivery team.
  • A desire to progress their career in project management.
  • An awareness of project life cycle processes and stage gates.
  • Experience of working in a commercial environment and of contract management processes.
  • Experience of finance management and forecasting would be useful.
  • Good stakeholder management and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams quickly.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • APM Project Management Qualifications (or similar) or keen to work towards this.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £38,000 - £42,000 – dependent on capability.
