About the Role

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career? Do you want to join a multinational electricity and gas utility company?


As a Quantity Surveyor in Capital Delivery, you will be part of one of our regional commercial teams, directly reporting to a regional commercial manager, in our award-winning Contracts & Commercial team.


As part of a regional commercial team you’ll be working alongside like-minded QS’s, from JQS through to Managing QS, to provide commercial and contractual support to one of our regional Construction teams on our infrastructure projects, from tender through to project completion, ranging from £100k to £100m+.


In our Electricity Transmission, you’ll be part of our Operations team directly reporting to our team leader capital Schemes, providing commercial and contractual support delivering transmission asset replacement and maintenance projects with an annual outturn £100m+. This is a new role in Operations with an excellent opportunity to develop the role within our expanding team.


No matter where you are based you’ll be given ample opportunity to develop, personally and professionally, with the support of National Grids award-winning training academy. Alongside this, you can take advantage of our in house MRICS mentoring programme, led by experienced RICS mentors, to work towards achieving your professional accreditation.

About You


  • A recognised degree or other professional qualification preferably in Quantity Surveying, or a similar discipline
  • Experience of engineering projects carried out under the NEC3 form of contract is preferable but experience in other forms of contract will be considered
  • Experience of providing commercial support to tenders and challenging contract T&Cs
  • Experience using document control and digital contract management systems
  • Proficient knowledge of earned value management principles and baselining
  • Proficient in the principles of forecasting cost & schedule risk management
  • Ability to use and develop spreadsheets, cost analysis and programme evaluation
  • Experience analysing and evaluating compensation events and variations
  • Knowledge of electricity transmission and/or gas transmission systems is preferable
  • Ability to prepare reports and collate information
  • Membership of relevant Professional Body is desirable
  • Hold a full valid UK driving licence
