About the role

As a Quantity Surveyor, based in East Anglia, you will provide commercial and contractual support to project teams on large scale infrastructure projects. Acting on behalf of National Grid, you will help deliver our projects in the most commercially effective way.

You will undertake a variety of tasks on some of the biggest, most exciting projects in green energy. You’ll have knowledge in strategic, technical, commercial, procurement and project management competencies.

  • You have the flexibility to sometimes travel to remote UK locations.
  • NEC4 Experience, ideally Option A and C Contracts.

What you'll do


Your role will include but not limited to:

  • Reviewing entitlements and assessing the time and cost impact of compensation events.
  • Leading on the payment application process. 
  • Remaining in compliance, in relevant contractual timescales. 
  • Leading on the development and management of cost forecasts. 
  • Undertaking robust cost assurance audits and ensuring audit findings are carried through to the payment certificate.
  • Participating in contract risk reviews, including maintaining and updating risk management software and accurately quantifying risks by using a variety of cost data.
  • Maintaining project compliance with National Grid governance processes.
  • Building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Project Managers, Planners, and contractors.  
  • Helping facilitate good communication between stakeholders. Communicating succinctly and consistently and reaching out to senior stakeholders for assistance when it is needed.
  • Proactively asking for support. As soon as you’ve identified a potential issue, asking for help before the issue escalates. 
  • Supporting procurement events, such as tenders for contractors to be awarded the contract for a project or portfolio of works.
  • Leading on the commercial assessment of tenders.
  • Developing the contract and procurement strategy to identify the most suitable procurement route, including suggestions for any contract deviations.
  • Working with the procurement team to ensure compliance with procurement processes. 


What you'll get


A competitive salary between £49,000 – £55,000 dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
