As an Associate Quantity Surveyor you will provide commercial and contractual support to project teams on large scale infrastructure projects. Acting on behalf of our customers, you will help deliver our projects in the most commercially effective way. 
You will undertake a variety of tasks on some of the biggest, most exciting projects in green energy. Whether you want to take a strategic, technical, commercial, procurement or project management route, this role will help you develop the skills you need.

What you'll do

 

  • Assisting in reviewing entitlements and assessing the time and cost impact of compensation events.
  • Supporting the payment application process. 
  • Remaining in compliance, in relevant contractual timescales. 
  • Assisting in the development and management of cost forecasts. 
  • With the support of more senior colleagues, taking sole responsibility for small contracts. For example, a small contract which forms part of a larger contract to feed into a single programme of works. 
  • Assisting in the cost audits of certain projects.
  • Helping your project team develop and maintain cost forecasts.
  • Participating in contract risk reviews, including maintaining and updating risk management software. 
  • Assisting in ensuring project compliance with National Grid governance processes.
  • Building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Project Managers, Planners, Senior Quantity Surveyors and contractors.  
  • Helping facilitate good communication between stakeholders. Communicating succinctly and consistently and reaching out to senior stakeholders for assistance when it is needed.
  • Proactively asking for support. As soon as you’ve identified a potential issue, asking for help before the issue escalates. 
  • Supporting procurement events, such as tenders for contractors to be awarded the contract for a project or portfolio of works.
  • Leading on the commercial assessment of smaller scale tenders, or providing support on larger value tenders.
  • Suggesting the most suitable procurement route, including suggestions for any contract deviations.
  • Working with the procurement team to ensure compliance with procurement processes.

A competitive salary up to £55,000 dependant on capability
