About the role

Within this role, you will be responsible of ensuring that the Enterprise projects across a broad geographical area operate to the highest standards of Safety, Health, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality through the project lifecycle from development through to completion, continually monitoring and auditing the standards by which the supply chain operate. You will also Monitor and support in-project SHESQ, site based resource.
The role will require you to drive a strong, effective health and safety culture across a portfolio of projects by interacting with internal and external stakeholders to provide assurance of compliance and competence in the supply chain and project execution teams.
We currently have roles within the north and south of England. You will be expected to travel reguarly and therefore are required to have a Full UK Driving License.

•Extensive understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies relating to Construction and thorough knowledge of CDM Regulations with relation to Client & PC duties.
•Experience of multi-disciplined construction projects working to deadlines in a commercial environment and awareness of contract management within fixed price and target cost contracts
•Demonstrable experience as a SHE leader working on major construction projects, and in delivering major projects including line management experience.
•Experience of quality policy and process, and able to demonstrate the applications of this within a construction / infrastructure environment.
•Understanding of the relevance of process safety, and its application in construction.
•Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability and confidence to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
•A drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement and experience of change management
•Motivates others through own example
•Personally committed to finding new ways of working in conjunction with others to achieve business goals
•Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
•Experience of working with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders
Technical skills required
•NEBOSH Dip or Equivalent
•Quality / Environmental Management and auditing e.g. ISO9001 or 14001 desirable
•CQI / IRCA Quality in Construction training desirable
•Registered member of a relevant professional body whilst working and training towards full chartered status.
•Current UK driving licence

What you'll do
•Support the safe delivery of Strategic Infrastructure Projects on behalf of the Project Director/SHESQ Manager to cost, time and quality.
•Interface with the contractor(s) for all day to day construction activities, and monitor portfolio progress, collaboratively resolving programme risk escalations on behalf of the Project Director.
•Provide up to date project performance and technical advice as a subject matter expert on SHESQ issues and legislative compliance;
•Ensure collaboration and co-ordination across the peer group in continual improvement of SHEQ within Strategic Infrastructure
•Review of permit to work systems, the review of the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements and ensuring that the Principal Contractors are pro-active in discharging their duties under CDM regulations across the portfolio.
•Support regular site construction meetings with Contractors and ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks to ensure that activities are being managed as per the agreed Construction Phase Plan.
•Review and implement improvement initiatives resultant of sensible monitoring of site construction activities and manage the close out of issues raised through SHEQ audit & inspection activities and implementation across the Project(s);
•Ensure project compliance of all site documents to ensure compliance with legislation, ensuring they have been subject to formal document control and uploaded to the relevant project document control system(s) in accordance with applicable procedures.
•Participate in incident investigations and represent the department on incident investigation panels as required including management of IMS and associated actions as necessary.
•Support the development of SI management systems and SHESQ Strategy.
•Drive process and procedural improvements and innovation by supporting wider business strategic improvement plans.
