As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.
We are currently recruiting for a Site Operations and Maintenance Manager based at our Viking Link coverter station in Lincolnshire.
Working with the other Interconnector Site Operations and Managers and other internal teams to support the development of an asset strategy that maximises operational asset availability over the long term and for driving commercial value for the interconnector.
The Site Operations & Maintenance Manager has a critical role in running the site delivery and ultimate operation of the link, with a focus on all the UK based assets, including the land and sub-sea cables. Leading a team of Operational Engineers (direct, agency and contractor derived) the Site Operations & Maintenance Manager is accountable for the quality, safe and efficient delivery of all operational activities of the Interconnector.
The role involves planning, co-ordination and management of all maintenance activities, emergency repair and trip response. If you have previous operational management experience we would love to hear from you!
This role is based on site in Lincolnshire and due to the nature of the location and the role you must have a full UK driving licence.
What you'll do
- Lead and manage a technically competent team with the ability to safely manage all day-to-day delivery and operational aspects of the business.
- Manage the contractor interface and monitor works to ensure delivery to time, quality and within SHE expectations.
- Accountable for asset and operational decisions to ensure the end-to-end safe operation of the interconnector and the people working on it.
- Ensure the right operational, safety and asset management systems are in place and properly utilised to support the safe, effective and efficient management of the interconnector.
- Ensure all agreed operational targets for the Interconnector are achieved in respect of SHE performance, asset availability and reliability, whilst effectively managing operational and asset related risks.
- Lead the UK site operation teams, which includes setting objectives, planning development, and training needs
- Manage the planning and delivery of outage maintenance periods to ensure all work is arranged, planned and delivered in line with NGV Interconnectors operational and safety processes and procedures and in a way that maximises availability and associated commercial value for the business.
- Manage the maintenance contractors, ensuring delivery of service against defined KPIs.
- Support the development and delivery of an asset management strategy on behalf of NGV that aligns with the overall business objectives and ensures the Interconnector link can maximise long term commercial value.
- Represent the IC operational team at various technical and operational forums across the interconnector community. Maintaining visibility and understanding of HVDC industry developments and operational best practice such that they can be applied within the NGV business.
- Manage the relationship with the local community including neighbouring key stakeholders
About you
- Proven experience of managing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire an operational team.
- Experience of working and making critical business and operational decisions whilst under pressure.
- Knowledge of key Health, Safety and Environmental legislation applicable within an operational environment.
- Experience of managing and delivering a diverse workforce, ranging from employed to contract personnel.
- Experience of delivering complex projects and a knowledge of basic project management techniques.

A competitive salary between £66,000 - £78,000 per annum dependent on capability.
