Pay and Benefits

•    Starting salary £45,521 pa.
•    + £5,000 pa SAP allowance – paid on completion of Senior Authorised Person qualification.
•    37 Hours per week Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm (Days only).
•    Paid overtime, standby allowance + call out fee.
•    Job requirement Company car (Full Electric or Hybrid).

Role overview

We’re looking for you to start a hands on career in the energy sector. You’ll join our Mendip and Westward team, where you will spend the first 18 – 24 months in training gaining experience on-site and in the classroom (with short stays away from home) building the skills and safety authorisations needed to take the next big step. 


Once qualified you will move in to the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) role with an increase in salary to £54,859 and £5,000 SAP allowance. Leading teams of fitters and contractors on high voltage substation projects across Somerset, Devon and Dorset, managing safety critical work, and helping keep the UK’s electricity network running smoothly. You’ll also join a standby rota for emergency call outs – earning additional payments for your expertise and availability. NG021_SUBSTATIONS_WIP_231206_v4-4_ww

Qualifications, skills and experience

•    Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification. 
•    You have practical engineering skills – installations, repair and maintenance.
•    Ability to use test equipment and interpret maintenance results, read electrical schematic drawings, produce risk assessments and method statements.
•    You must be able to commit and attend training courses at our Eakring site in Nottinghamshire and other sites which will require short stays away from home to complete your training. 
•    You will be available for standby rota providing reactive call outs for emergencies, due to this you will live within 45 mins of our Taunton site.
•    Full UK driving licence. 
Desirable
•    Substation experience, Supervisory experience, NEBOSH.
